South Australia is the southern state of central Australia. It’s Australia’s fourth largest state and has some amazing tours and attractions to experience on your visit.
Start off by exploring the capital city – Adelaide. Adelaide is one of the quieter capital cities in Australia but it’s not without it’s charm. The best time to visit is during festival season which runs from January till March. Summer, Womad and of course the famous Fringe festivals are on during this time. Make sure you catch a couple of shows at Fringe for a memorable experience. The garden of unearthly delights is where alot of the action is at.
The beach suburb of Glenelg is worth a visit and is accessible by tram from the city centre. There’s many areas around Adelaide that are worth checking out to. Head to the Adelaide hills and explore the city of Hahndorf. A small town steeped in German heritage. There’s also plenty of breweries and wineries in the area to check out too.
Speaking of wineries there’s lots of winery areas to visit in South Australia. The Clare Valley, McLaren Vale and of course the famous Barossa Valley all have world class wineries. We recommend a day tour of the Barossa to taste the best wines.
A couple of hours drive south of Adelaide and you’ll arrive at Cape Jervis. This is where the ferry departs for Kangaroo island. There’s plenty to see and do here including walking amongst Seals at seal bay. Viewing native Australian wildlife as well as checking out the remarkable rocks and Admirals arch are also highlights. We recommend a one day tour if you’re short on time.
Heading further afield from Adelaide there’s plenty of highlights as well. Head to Port Lincoln to swim with sea lions or go shark cage diving with great white sharks. North of Adelaide visit Flinders Ranges national park and enjoy some amazing hikes. Visit Coober Pedy and mine for opals underground.
Many will continue north to the Northern Territory to see Uluru in the red centre.
