The Ningaloo reef is some 1200 kilometres north of Perth and is one of the main attractions for visitors to Western Australia. The reef is right on the coast and offers many outdoor activities for every traveller. Come and visit this UNESCO World Heritage listed attraction today!
The Ningaloo reef stretches roughly 300 kilometres from the Muiron islands in the north to Carnavron’s Red Bluff. Towns such as Exmouth and Coral Bay are popular spots to stay and check out what the reef has to offer.
Perhaps the biggest draw card is the Whale shark population. 300 to 500 of these amazing creatures congregate on the reef each year. Doing a day trip to dive/swim with the Whale sharks is an unforgettable experience.
There are plenty of spots where you can simply walk off the beach and snorkel on spectacular reefs. Unlike the Great Barrier reef it isn’t a long boat ride to get to some of the best parts. To see some of the most interesting spots we recommend a snorkel trip or turtle tour from Coral Bay.
The Ningaloo reef is also close to some amazing land based attractions. Make sure you visit Karijini national park and Cape Range National park while you’re in the area.
