Have you just hired a campervan from Cheap Az Travel and now you’re ready to plan a road-trip down Australia’s West Coast? You’re in the right place.
We’ve got your back. If you want help mapping out your route, or you’re on the hunt for epic campsites, we’ve got you covered.
Below is a curated list of west coast campsites and campgrounds that our very own Irish Travel Gal loves and recommends. We try to keep it fresh and updated.
Heads up: some of WA’s most popular spots, especially coastal and national-park campgrounds get snapped up fast in peak periods. Book early to avoid disappointment.
There are a few tools that make life easier when you’re on the road apps like WikiCamps Australia or CamperMate help you find free camps, paid campgrounds, toilets, dump points, fuel stops, and more. Many of WA’s free or budget camps are off the beaten track, so downloading offline maps will make a real difference.
Western Australia is known to having the largest amount of free/donation campsites and rest areas but if you park somewhere that’s not designated for camping, you risk fines or being moved on. Always respect local rules and signage.
Because WA is huge and often remote:
- Some campsites only allow self-contained vehicles. Plan for contained camping if you don’t have a toilet in your set up.
- Check access roads, many remote campsites are on unsealed tracks, sometimes 4WD only. Know what your vehicle can do.
- Keep in min, season and climate, coastal spots are beautiful but the weather and conditions can vary a lot. WA can get windy so bring layers, and pack for wind, heat, and lots of flies.
