Escape into the land that time forgot as we head off on a 3-day adventure on Tasmania’s wild West Coast.
Deep in the West Coast wilderness Under Down Under will journey back through time to explore the heritage of Tasmania. Walk through untouched forests, explore wild rivers and rugged coastlines, see breathtaking mountainous vistas and breath the freshest air in the world. We make Strahan our home base, as we settle in for 2 nights’ accommodation to make the most of our time on the wild West Coast. Then it’s off to Cradle Mountain for walks and sightseeing before we travel to Launceston via Sheffield. This is an amazing opportunity to see part of the world that is nearly untouched by civilisation.

Leave Hobart and drive across the Derwent Valley, crossing the island from east to west.
You’ll view the stunning Russell Falls, walk amid the tall trees of Mt Field National Park, and explore Lake St Clair, Australia’s deepest freshwater lake. Explore the beautiful Franklin-Gordon Wild River National Park before finishing the day at Strahan.
Overnight: Strahan
The changing sands of Henty Dunes will be explored in the unspoilt wilderness of Tasmania’s West Coast. Then we travel through the Tarkine Rainforest to Tasmania’s highest waterfall, Montezuma Falls. Alternatively, you can join the world-famous Gordon River Cruise (optional, at your own expense).
Overnight: Strahan
The World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain-Lake St Claire National Park is located around 950m above sea level, and you can choose a route to suit your needs. Take a leisurely stroll around Dove Lake or challenge yourself with a hike to Marion’s Lookout. A short journey takes us to Launceston through Sheffield, the town of murals.
