Discover the East Coast of Tasmania on this 6 day adventure. Including Freycinet National Park and the Bay of Fires, go on a hike to Cradle Mountain, and experience the wilds of the West.
Start your journey by strolling through Hobart’s renowned Salamanca Markets. After that, we’ll ascend Kunanyi/Mount Wellington to enjoy breathtaking views of Hobart. We’ll make a pit stop in Richmond’s old village before continuing on the magnificent Great Eastern Drive north. Passing via the seaside communities of Orford and Swansea. We’ll go to the wildlife sanctuary so we can get a close-up look at some of Tasmania’s native animals. We proceed later in the day to Bicheno, where you can join a guided tour tonight (at your own expense). And get a better understanding of the Little Penguin colony’s daily activities.
Bicheno overnight
This morning, we visit the stunning Freycinet National Park. Which is home to a wild domain of exquisite beaches with pristine, powder-white sands and clear waters. If you’re up for a challenge, try the ascent of Mt. Amos, or join the stroll to Wineglass Bay. Other options for free walking include the ascent to Cape Tourville Lighthouse. Where you may take in expansive views of the coastline. After that we head back to Bicheno for the evening, Where you could enjoy a delectable seafood meal in this fishing community while trying anything from crayfish to abalone.

Today, we make a stop at the Bay of Fires as we travel along the East Coast. Long expanses of sparkling white beaches, turquoise oceans, coastal heath, and species-rich woodlands make up this region. Which is notable for its beauty, nature, and cultural history. We’ll discover more of Tasmania’s lush north-east on the route to Launceston. Including the enormous tree ferns at St. Columba Falls and Pyengana’s farmhouse handmade cheese. Then before spending the night in Tasmania’s second largest city. We’ll take a look at the picturesque Cataract Gorge in the middle of the city.
Launceston overnight
After leaving Launceston, we go through Sheffield, known as the “Town of Murals,” before arriving at Cradle Mountain. The Cradle Mountain-Lake St. Clair National Park, which is part of the World Heritage Site. Here, you can pick a trek that suits you. With a wide variety of paths, you can walk to Marion’s Lookout or simply wander around Dove Lake. The day comes to a close as we spend the night in Strahan, a harborside community.
Strahan overnight
We will visit Ocean Beach, take in the world’s purest air. And explore the Henty Dunes’ shifting sands in the untamed wildness of Tasmania’s West Coast. Then, before heading back to Strahan, we travel into the Tarkine region. Where we take a stroll through the rain forest and see Montezuma Falls. Alternately you might choose to take the fantastic Gordon River Cruise today to explore the breathtaking environment (own cost).
Strahan overnight
After leaving Strahan, we’ll go to Queenstown’s lunar landscape. Discover the beautiful Franklin-Gordon Wild River National Park, and then explore Lake St. Clair. We stop at Mt. Field National Park en route to Hobart and take in a stroll among the tall trees and see the breathtaking Russell Falls. We continue our trip through the Derwent Valley as we traverse the island from west to east. Arriving back in Hobart and saying goodbye to your travelling partners and your amazing journey on the Tasmania 6 day adventure.
