Go West shows you the best way to explore one of Australia’s most popular holiday destinations. On this Phillip Island day tour, meet and view local wildlife at a multi-award-winning conservation park before reaching the highlight of the tour – the nightly Penguin Parade.
After leaving Melbourne about noon, Go West travel to the city’s most vibrant landmark, the famous Brighton Beach bathing boxes, where we visit the beach and take some time to appreciate these iconic structures.
Go West continue onto Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park by travelling via Melbourne’s bayside districts. Here, we take part in a guided wildlife walk where we get to interact with and hand-feed a variety of native Australian animal. Discover some of our less well-known favourites, such as quolls, owls, bandicoots, and Tasmanian devils, in addition to famous species like kangaroos, koalas, emus, and wallabies.
The breathtaking “Conservation in Action” wildlife display is a part of our visit to this location and features a number of lesser-known Australian animals in a series of interactive and interesting ranger presentations.
As we travel on to Phillip Island, we stop at Point Grant and The Nobbies where we can take in the views of Bass Strait and Westernport Bay, including Seal Rocks, which is home to the greatest population of fur seals in Australia.
The Phillip Island penguin tour, the primary event, will follow. Every night, shortly after sunset, the tiniest penguins in the world come ashore after a day of fishing at sea. You’ll be spellbound when the show’s stars emerge from the sea and pass in front of your eyes as they make their way back to the meadows. Your tour guide will make sure you have the finest possible view of the Penguin Parade.
Upgrade to the more specialised “Penguins Plus” viewing platform for an exclusive viewing experience. You will take advantage of unique ranger interpretation in a more natural setting with a cap on numbers at 300.
We give ourselves plenty of time after the march to tour the visitor centre before starting our own return trip to Melbourne. You’ll consider this day to be the pinnacle of your Australian vacation. You’ll be dropped off right back at your downtown accommodation.
Our return time to Melbourne fluctuates substantially during the year, just as the time the penguins arrive on the beach does.
On an indicative basis, this tour returns to Melbourne at approximately the following times:
