Description

Can’t pick between a beach, a lake, or a rainforest, yet want to experience their natural beauty all at once? All of the following are available to you on our Fraser 2-day, 1-night tag-along trip: Visit Fraser Island, also known as K’Gari, and take a guided 4WD trip where you get to operate a pink 4WD!

Departures

  • Pick up in Hervey bay from 7 am
  • Returns Hervey Bay at 6–6:15 p.m.

You can count on a 4WD to seat a maximum of six passengers, so you can travel in luxury and style. Our tag-along experience brings together like-minded travelers from all over the world, whether you’re a lone traveler, a couple, or part of a small group. You will be well taken care of throughout the journey by our friendly, knowledgeable, and experienced guides, who are driving the white 4WD that leads the squad. So don’t worry if you’ve never driven on the sand before. We place a high priority on safety, so we go out of our way to ensure that you learn sand driving in a fun but secure setting.

What you will see

Walk through the rainforest at Fraser Island’s Central Station before taking a four-wheel drive on 75 Mile Beach’s multicolored sands. Eli Creek offers swimming and tube rides. Meet like-minded travelers while gaining knowledge from your skilled, experienced lead guide. Visit the legendary Maheno Shipwreck and perhaps go swimming in Lake Garawongera (a tea tree lake). To reach the emerald-green Lake Wabby, traverse sand dunes. At the lovely Lake McKenzie, you may unwind, have fun, and swim. 2 days of nonstop outdoor enjoyment!

Refunds

All bookings are subject to a 7-day cancellation policy. There are no refunds or date changes within 7 days of your departure date. This also covers COVID cancellations, regardless of border closures in the 7 days before the tour departs.

Any cancellations more than 7 days prior to departure are subject to the agent cancellation policy, or if booked directly with Fraser Dingo, you will get a full refund less any credit card fees.

Itineraries

All trip itineraries and site-seeing are tide- and weather-dependent and also dependent on the tour duration. Safety is a priority when travelling along a tidal beach, so we will not go to Indian Head if the tide or weather is against us; instead, we will provide another site to see opportunities.

If, due to weather or tide, we are not able to travel to all sites on the 2- or 3-day itinerary, there will be no refunds issued. Unless the tour is canceled prior to departure due to government weather warnings,. Fraser Island can be a remote and wild place, so safety in bad weather is a concern. Site visitation is at the discretion of the guide running the tour.

Accommodation

Accommodation at the Beach House, Eurong, is subject to change due to availability. It is possible that we may also provide accommodation at other locations. Accommodation is provided as a budget option for camping, and guests will be expected to keep their bathrooms and areas clean.

Damages

Please note that drivers and passengers are responsible for any vehicle damage, as per the driver contract that is signed on tour check-in. If any money is claimed from drivers due to damages incurred on the tour, money can be charged to the credit card provided.
Damages to the accommodation by customers doing the wrong thing could incur charges.

Food

Please note that we make every effort to offer a budget-accommodated tagalong experience to Fraser Island, where you do not have to camp on the beach and put up tents. We take the pressure off you and help organise your food as a group. If you are able to help with food preparation, that’s great, as many hands make light work and you will get your lunch or dinner faster! (Remember, it’s not a catered tour, but we do have volunteers helping out.). It is your responsibility to let us know any special dietary requirements well in advance so we can facilitate this; if you haven’t, then don’t complain now! We also do not provide alcohol; this is your responsibility.

Please note that it is up to the group as a whole to support the guide and clean up after themselves to get going early on the second day so sites can be travelled to. If everyone sleeps in and doesn’t help the guide get going early, you can’t expect to get to tide-dependent places like Lake Wabby, Eli Creek, or Indian Head (3-day tour), as it takes time to travel there and return across the island to be at the barge on time.

Please note that site visits are restricted by National Parks due to numbers of visitors and time allocations; e.g., we can only visit Lake McKenzie from 2 PM for 1 hour. If we don’t stay long at a site, it is due to these reasons, and this is part of our permit requirements and out of our control.

Please note that on the day of departure we take the 10:15am barge; this is our allocated barge with the barge operators. It can feel like the morning is slow to get started, but as Fraser Island is only accessible by boat, we don’t have much control over our barge time! It also benefits us to have more time in the morning for the driver briefing rather than needing to be here the day before!

We take no responsibility for drivers arriving late to the safety session and missing out on driving; all the information is emailed to you well in advance. (Please arrive at 7:25AM, ready for the 7:30 AM start!) We start at 7.30am sharp as we have other bookings in place after the tour and only have until 8am to complete the mandatory driver safety information that takes 1/2 hour!

Safety is our concern, but it is your responsibility. Anyone not following the driving rules and listening to the guide will be removed from driving.
