Touring with Ride Tours 2 days, 1 night Great Ocean Road is not just great value for money. But it’s a great way to meet new friends while traveling along one of Australia’s stunning coastal drives.

The Twelve Apostles limestone formation is one of the most well-known attractions along the Great Ocean Road and is on the Australian National Heritage list. With Ride Excursions, we travel down the highway the other way, backing up to Melbourne.

  • Departs Melbourne at 7 a.m
  • Returns Melbourne returns at 7 p.m.

Starting on the south-west shore, which enables us to escape the masses and complete the tedious portion of the drive first, saving the best for last along the Great Ocean Road.

With a two-day tour, we can take our time and ensure that you never feel hurried. The only thing we can do is make sure we get to the Twelve Apostles in time for sunset.

Your tour itinerary

From Melbourne, Ride Tours 2-day 1-night Great Ocean Road departs for Victoria’s south-west coast. Stopping along the way for morning tea with the provided tea, coffee, and cookies.
Arrive at Logans Beach in Warrnambool, a beautiful surf spot that is also a great area to observe whales feeding their young all year long (winter treat).

We travel to Tower Hill, a sizable, ancient, submerged volcano in a national park. See koalas, kangaroos, and emus after doing some shopping and eating lunch in Warrnambool.
We travel 30 minutes to the Great Ocean Road, where we stop to take in the breathtaking scenery (and, if the weather permits, go swimming).

Then we go to the Twelve Apostles to see the sunset.

We wait for the little penguins to return from their day of fishing to their nests below the cliffs after dusk for around 30 minutes. We will eat dinner at the Port Campbell Hostel before our trip to see the Twelve Apostles at dusk in the summer.

It is a short 10-minute drive there. Then we head to the Twelve Apostles for a sunset viewing experience.

After sunset, we wait for around 30 minutes to see the little penguins returning. From their day’s fishing to their nests below the cliffs

It is an easy 10-minute drive to the Port Campbell Hostel, where we will have dinner (in summer, dinner is before the sunset trip to the Twelve Apostles).

After breakfast, we depart at around 8 a.m. And travel for ten minutes to the stunning Loch Ard Gorge, the site of a horrible shipwreck and a valiant rescue. Once the Twelve Apostles are out in the open air, you have the option of taking a helicopter flight. Which is optional but highly recommended and costs $145 for a 15-minute flight. The Apostles can then be seen from the beach at Gibson’s Steps.

We travel in style for an hour through the Great Otway National Park. To reach Maits Rest, where we will participate in a guided rainforest walk. We stop in the beach community of Apollo Bay for lunch. The Great Ocean Road’s original section, which hugs the ocean the entire way, takes us to Bells Beach in the late afternoon. Along the way, we experience around two hours of breathtaking views. At Bells Beach, we might see some surfers. Returning to Melbourne (a 1.5-hour trip up the highway), we’ll be there at 7:00 p.m.
