It’s easy to see why the Mornington Peninsula is one of the most visited day trip location from Melbourne. The dormant volcano and cool climate here make it a great spot for producing amazing wine. Avid golfers will find plenty of swinging action at the courses here too. There’s the famous hot springs, Chocolaterie, pristine beaches and more. Come visit and see for yourself!
There’s plenty so we’ll try and list out some of the best spots! Start off by heading to the famous bathing boxes. Good spots are at Dromana and rye foreshore and if you’re driving towards point Nepean you’ll see others on the way.
These were originally built as a place to get changed into your swimwear in private. Nowadays they fetch a pretty sum when sold and are used for storage and a place to hang out by owners. Visitors love to get an iconic selfie with them.
If you want to get an awesome view then take the winding road up Arthurs seat. Head to Murray’s lookout for sweeping views of the peninsula. For an even better view jump on the Arthurs Seat eagle Gondola.
Across the road Sea-winds gardens also offers great views as well as kangaroo spotting, walks and William Ricketts sculptures.
A couple hundred metres up the road the Enchanted adventure garden is home to tube slides, tree top adventures, mazes and all sorts of fun.
Sunny ridge strawberry farm is a short drive from there. Pick your own strawberries or enjoy strawberry ice cream, pancakes … anything really!
The Peninsula hot springs is one of the most famous spots to visit. Enjoy the 50 plus experiences that the bath house has to offer. There’s many mineral springs, sauna, Turkish bath house, a reflexology walk and more.
Of course there are plenty of wineries. Check out Pt Leo estate, Montalto and rare hare at Jackelope to name a few.
Those that rather a brew can checkout red hill brewery or St Andrew’s beach brewery.
Make sure you stop in the historic street of Sorrento for some shopping and a famous vanilla slice. From there head to Point Nepean national park. You can explore the military forts and tunnels and see where Australian Prime Minister Harold holt mysteriously disappeared.
