Learn more about Bus Passes!

There are two companies that you can choose to go with on your journey in Australia and we’re here to help you choose the right one for you!

Greyhound bus Australia

The most well known and with the largest network available in Australia, Greyhound is definitely a good choice. They have new modern coaches with reclining seats, air conditioning, usb ports and wifi so it’s easy to stay in touch and keep your devices charged on those long overland journeys around this massive country of ours.

Greyhound offers their Whimit passes which allow you to travel on their network for up to 90 days. You can purchase the pass and you have up to 2 years(24 months) to start your travel at which point the travel time period starts.

Other note-able features include:

  • Up to 3 departures a day (check out the network map )
  • Convenient stops at all the locations you want to visit on the east coast
  • Travel through the outback in South Australia and the Northern territory too
  • Save on accommodation by taking advantage of overnight buses.

Premier Motor service Australia

Premier motor service is your cheapest way to travel the east coast between Sydney and Cairns. The buses tend to be a little older but will still get you where you are going, keep in mind that they only offer 1 departure a day which can be costly so make sure you always arrive early for your bus, we recommend at least 20 minutes prior to the departure time.

Notable differences with Premier motor service:

  • Only one departure a day which means some arrival times are painful (such as getting into coffs harbour at 3am)
  • No stop at 1770, the bus will stop at the turn off on the highway in the middle of nowhere and from there it’s getting a taxi or trying to organise a pick up with your accommodation.
  • Will get you where you want to go.
  • Definitely the cheapest option for those on a budget and the arrival times are ok if you’re hitting the most popular destinations.
