Offering breathtaking beaches and plenty of fun activities for every one, the neighbouring towns of 1770 and Agnes Waters should be on the list of any traveller heading up or down the east coast.
1770 Agnes Waters is situated on the southern end of the Great Barrier reef just a short drive(90 minutes) from Bundaberg. If you’re far away you can fly to Bundaberg airport and hire a car. Otherwise if you’re close or making your way along the coast it’s an easy drive and both the Greyhound and Premier bus services stop here.
Theres plenty of beaches to checkout from the ones named after the towns themselves to springs and Chinamans beach. Try your hand at surfing or just enjoy a nice dip in the ocean. Those that are not confident surfers can take a surf lesson with one of the local surf schools.
If fishing is your deal then you can head out on a fishing charter to catch the big one. Alternatively you could take a tour on the Larc, an amphibious vehicle that travels on land and in the water! If you’ve had enough of the ocean there are plenty of walks to try. Why not walk to Bustard lighthouse or head to Deepwater national park?
There’s plenty of nice places to grab a meal such as the staple Agnes water tavern or plantation bar and restaurant. A variety of accommodation is available including backpacker hostels, caravan parks and motels.
Heading north? Check out Emu Park, Rockhampton and Yeppoon or Mackay to get off the beaten track. If you’re keen on the next hot spot then head to Airlie beach to visit the Whitsunday islands.
For those heading south it’s a no brainer – head to Fraser island for some 4 wheel drive adventures!
