A variety of activities are available with Sunlover, and guests have unique access to our specially made floating pontoon. The Great Barrier Reef’s treasures are accessible to people of all ages and abilities. Furthermore, it has crystal-clear water, vibrant coral, an abundance of fish, amiable local turtles, and Maori wrasse. The best place to enjoy everything the outer reef has to offer is, by far, Moore Reef.

And swimmers of all skill levels can snorkel in the natural lagoon or, in some cases, keep dry on our glass-bottom boat and semi-submersible tours. Visit our underwater observatory to see the largest natural fish tank in the world. Additionally, visit our touch tank presentations to get up-close and personal with aquatic creatures. But our enclosed ocean pool is a fun place for young children. Or plunge into the tropical seas from Sunlover’s 30-meter spiralling waterslide. And from an elevated lifeguard station, a professional lifeguard is constantly on duty. And two snorkel platforms that are connected by stairs allow for simple access to the water.

For those looking for even more adventure,. But you can also supplement your reef trip with a guided snorkel tour, a seawalker helmet dive, introductory and certified scuba dives, or a spectacular helicopter flight.

Snorkel the Reef

Furthermore, there’s plenty of room to explore the Great Barrier Reef, which has a 6,000-square-metre snorkelling area. If you’ve never snorkelled before or aren’t a good swimmer, our courteous staff will show you how to use the snorkelling equipment offered.

But our snorkelling area was built with your safety in mind. Furthermore, there are four rest stations where you may relax and re-energize, as well as an elevated tower where our professional lifeguards are always on duty. However, confident swimmers can explore the magnificent 15-metre-deep drop-off and canyon at the snorkelling area’s further reaches.

Important info before travel

Simply pack a bag as if you were going to the beach for the day. Suggested items include:

  • swimming costume and beach towel
  • sunscreen (SPF 30+) reef friendly is recommended
  • sun protective clothing such as t-shirt or rash vest, hat and sunglasses
  • cash or credit card for onboard purchases, snacks and optional activities (we accept AUD$, VISA, MasterCard, Amex, Unionpay, Royalpay)

A pontoon is a flat, man-made structure that floats on the surface of the water. The Sunlover Pontoon is two stories and is permanently moored in a coral-fringed lagoon at Moore Reef. Large and spacious, it provides a safe and stable platform for our guests to enjoy the Great Barrier Reef. Our pontoons are custom designed to make the coral gardens and marine life of the Outer Great Barrier Reef easily accessible for visitors of all ages and swimming abilities.

Booking & payment methods

Bookings can be made with Sunlover reservations team as follows:

  • Over the phone +617 4050 1333. Payment to be made over the phone by credit card, either at the time of booking or 24 hours prior to travel.
  • Via email res@sunlover.com.au.  Payment to be by the return of a completed credit card authority form at the time of booking.
  • In person at our desk at the Reef Fleet Terminal, payment to be made at the time of booking with cash or credit card.
  • Via Sunlover’s website (www.sunlover.com.au). Payment to be made at the time of booking. Payment is to be made on the passengers credit card, which may be subject to booking fees, and the credit card used must be presented at check in on the day of tour for verification purposes.
  • With a trusted Sunlover trade partner.

Cancellation

A full refund will be offered to customer requested cancellations up until 24 hours prior to travel, cancellations made within 24 hours of travel will result in a 100% cancellation charge. This includes no-shows. Cancellation charges may be waived at the discretion of management if the cancellation is a result of:

  1. ill health (medical certificate may be required)
  2. minor changes to number of guests travelling
  3. rescheduling within reason

Should Sunlover be required to cancel or the operation of the tour for any reason, including on the rare occasions due to inclement weather, an alternative date or itinerary will be offered to the passenger. If the alternative date or itinerary cannot be arranged or agreed upon, a full refund of all monies paid to Sunlover Reef Cruises will be authorised. If the passenger accepts the alternative date or itinerary, no refunds will be issued.

If the booking was made through a third party agent the passenger may be required to contact their agent for a refund and a refund is at the descresion of the agent.

On occasion and for factors outside Sunlover’s control various included elements of the tour may regrettably not be in operation, this may include but not limited to Glass Bottom Boat and/or Semi-Submersible tours, waterslide, marine biologist presentations etc. One these rare occasions and when the majority of the tour can operate no refund on the full day tour will be offered.

Some package tours operate in conjunction with other tour operators and Sunlover acts as an agent for these companies. Conditions and cancellation policies for these tours are subject to operating conditions of these companies.
