Description

Cradle Mountain National Park is a World Heritage-listed region with outstanding beauty and a large selection of walking paths to choose from. With approximately 5 hours in the National Park, we leave our walking plan flexible to accommodate our passengers and the weather conditions on the day.
After leaving Launceston, we will make a brief stop in Sheffield, known as the “Town of Murals.”

Sheffield is a small village where the history of the Cradle Mountain region is portrayed through artwork displayed throughout the town, including the famous Eason’s Mural.

Departures

  • Departs: Launceston, 7.30am
  • Returns: Launceston 6.30 – 7.00 pm

We continue our trip into the mountains, arriving at Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake with approximately 5 hours of walking time ahead of us. Second, we’ll take a few short treks to Rainforest City and Pencil Pine Falls. Third, we have the mild and classic Dove Lake Circuit, a 2-hour easy walk with stunning mountain views. Subsequently, we offer the opportunity for the more active to climb to the loftier heights of Marion’s Lookout. This walk is well worth it for the amazing 360-degree vistas of the neighbouring World Heritage Nature Area.

Enjoy lunch by a peaceful creek, observe the famous and friendly Cradle wombats in their native habitat, or take advantage of the numerous picture opportunities. Visit Weindorfer’s Chalet and observe the historic King Billy Pines on Weindorfer’s Forest Walk to learn about local history.

Above all, Cradle Mountain serves as the backdrop for a really unforgettable and must-see Tasmanian experience. On our way back to Launceston, we stop at the award-winning Ashgrove Cheese Factory to enjoy some local delicacies.

We return to Launceston around 6.30 p.m. after a huge yet unforgettable Cradle Mountain day.
