3: WILD WEST COAST TASMANIA

Firstly today’s playground is the untamed wilderness of Tasmania’s West Coast. We’ll hike to Tasmania’s highest waterfall, Montezuma Falls, before exploring the massive Henty Sand Dunes in the Tarkine rainforest. Alternatively, you can now cruise the beautiful Gordon River (own cost). Later, at Ocean Beach, we’ll breathe the purest air on the planet. But back in Strahan, hopefully our guide can point you in the direction of the rare platypus.

4: CRADLE MOUNTAIN > LAUNCESTON

Choose a trek to suit your fitness level at the World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain National Park. The Dove Lake circuit is considered by some to be the best short walk in Tasmania, whereas the hike to Marion’s Lookout is more difficult. We’ll leave the highlands after seeking for wombats at Ronny Creek (fingers crossed! ), stopping at the Town of Murals (Sheffield) before experiencing the urban joys of Launceston at your leisure.

Launceston, overnight

5: LAUNCESTON > BICHENO

Discover the gorgeous Cataract Gorge in Launceston and look for native wallabies before hitting the road for some magnificent East Coast views. After lunch, wander along the white sands of the magnificent Bay of Fires (and swim if the weather permits!). We’ll take our time as we journey south to the charming fishing village of Bicheno (our home for the night), where you can also attend an optional guided tour of the tiny penguins as they emerge from the sea (own cost). Bicheno (overnight)

6: Freycinet National Park > Hobart Return

The Wineglass Bay overlook offers spectacular views, so it’s worth waking up early to beat the crowds. Then we can either rest on the isolated beach or take on the more difficult Mt Amos climb or a beach walk. We’ll take in the amazing ocean and mountain vistas of the Hazards pink granite peaks from Cape Tourville before travelling to Hobart along the Great Eastern Drive.

In conclusion fantastic 6 day adventure in Tasmania with some of the best views in the world. But why not check out some other Under Down under tours
