The Tully River has earned an international reputation as Australia’s best rafting river. Enjoy awesome grade 3 & 4 rapids, amongst the spectacular scenery on this adrenalin pumping adventure. Experience is not necessary. A sense of adventure is!

The Tully River hosted the International Rafting Federation’s 2019 World Rafting Championships. This world class river provides a pinnacle rafting experience. With over 45 rapids ripping down through the stunning rainforest gorge surrounds. Classified as a Grade 4/5 river, the Tully provides one hell of a wild ride which ticks all the boxes for those seeking the ultimate Australian rafting adventure!

Your day begins with a morning pick up from your Cairns or Mission Beach accommodation. Before enjoying the scenic drive to our Tully base at the Feluga Hotel. You’ll have the chance to grab a quick bite here if you missed breakfast before we meet up with any self drivers and travel to the top of the Tully Gorge.


  • 06.00 – 08.30 Pick up from accommodation and enjoy the scenic drive to Tully via Feluga.
  • 08.30 – 09.00 Comfort stop and time to grab a quick breakfast at the iconic Feluga Hotel.
  • 09.00 – 09.45 Fitted with rafting gear.
  • 10.00 – 12.00 Meet your River Guide who will give you a safety briefing and paddling instructions before it’s time to hit the water!
  • 12.00 – 12.30 Stop for a quick break to recharge the batteries and enjoy a riverside picnic lunch.
  • 12.30 – 14.30 It’s back to the churning white water to tackle more epic rapids on the lower section of the river.
  • 14.30 – 14.45 Arrive at the take-out point and change into dry clothes.
  • 14.45 – 16.00 Transfer to the Feluga Hotel where you can enjoy a cold beverage or hot snack (own cost) with your Guide & crew surrounded by a living history of RT & Tully Rafting memorabilia.
  • 16.00 – 18.00 Sit back and relax as we transfer you back to your accommodation.

What You Should Bring

Swimwear, towel, change of dry clothes, secure footwear such as sand shoes or adventure sandals (no thongs), waterproof sunscreen, cap to wear under helmet (optional). Shoe hire available for $5. Thermal tops and dry tops available for $5 for hire each. Also bring your voucher and money for additional refreshments and purchase of any digital photos you may like as an awesome reminder of your epic adventure. Please leave jewellery and valuables at your accommodation.

Important Info

Please note that you must have a competent swimming ability. And be able to understand and follow River Guide instructions in English, to participate in Tully River rafting. This is for your safety. English speaking will be assessed by River Guides at the time of pick-up. If there are concerns about your ability to understand instructions. Rafting is not suitable for anyone who may be pregnant.

All times and activities in this itinerary are intended as a guide only. And are approximate and subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control (i.e. weather/water). The minimum age to participate is 13 years. But those under 18 years must travel with a responsible guardian or adult. For your safety you will not be permitted to raft if we detect you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. And in these instances, no refund will apply. If you have any medical conditions you are worried about, please talk to our friendly team. Action digital photos of the day will be available to buy, at the end of the tour.
