We’ll take you through the Central Australian landscape to the Finke River’s edge and into the incredible Palm Valley. You’ll see the major sights and go to Hermannsburg, an Aboriginal community known as “Ntaria” to the local Arrernte people.
Travel by 4WD through the West MacDonnell Ranges to Hermannsburg, an Aboriginal community and historic precinct known for its Aboriginal art collection and Albert Namatjira’s works. In Hermannsburg*, either morning tea or coffee is provided.
Travel down the bed of Finke River, one of the world’s oldest water courses, into Palm Valley.
View stunning rock formations, white sands, and an oasis of rock pools and palm trees. Some plants, such as the cycad and ‘Livistonia Mariae’ (cabbage palm), are considered relics and are only found in Central Australia.
Visit the Ampitheatre, a spectacular rock formation. Take a picnic lunch.
Relax and take in the changing colours of the West MacDonnell Ranges in the afternoon light.
Located 123 kilometres south-west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory of Australia, the Finke Gorge National Park contains an east-west running valley in the Krichauff Range. Red Cabbage Palms are exclusively found in Palm Valley in Central Australia. The closest specimens are located in Queensland, 850 kilometres away.
