A half-day of whale watching with the Australian Whale Experience leaves from Bundaberg Port Marina in Burnett Heads (15–17 Marina Drive). Check in is at 9.45 a.m. for a departure at 10 a.m. and return at 2 p.m. You will get to experience 4 hours of luxury catamaran travel aboard the “Reef Empress” or “Main Event” while admiring breathtaking views of Humpback whales playing along the Humpback Highway.
Australia Whale Experience has had a 100% sighting rate over the past 6 years on our whale watching tour along the coastline off Bundaberg. A light lunch is included.

Our tours depart from 15–17 Marina Drive, Burnett Heads, which is approximately a 20–25 minute drive from Bundaberg CBD. Please familiarize yourself with the area prior to the tour date to ensure you arrive on time. If you’re coming from 1770 or Agnes Water, please allow 2 hours. If you’re coming from Hervey Bay, please allow 2 hours.
Arrive early (9:45 a.m. is recommended) for a 10 a.m. departure. We do have a shuttle bus ($40 per person, return). Filtered water is available throughout the day, so please bring a water bottle for top ups. (Refillable bottles are sold on the boat if required.) While we do endeavor to accommodate all dietary requirements, we cannot completely guarantee allergy-free meals. Due to the potential traces of allergens in the working environment and the supplied ingredients.
If you have requested gluten free, please ensure you approach the galley staff on the day of your tour for a gluten-free plate. We recommend bringing extra food if you have specific dietary requirements, as we are unable to offer individualized menus for individual needs. Please wait on the grass area next to the boarding gates on the marina side of the carpark for our check-in crew to begin boarding for “Reef Empress”, located on the orange-capped pier (from our car parking area, Reef Empress is located directly in front on the end mooring), with your order details and identification to be verified with the passenger manifest. – No shoes are to be worn while on the vessel for safety reasons .
If you need to wear shoes for medical reasons, please ensure they are flat. With non-marking soles and advise the crew at check-in and boarding. Included in your 1/2 day tour is a light lunch of wraps. Arrival back at Bundaberg Port Marina is approximately 2:00 p.m., depending on weather and tour numbers on the day. If we have to cancel/change our tours for any reason. We will contact you the day before to discuss options via email and/or phone. Please refer to our terms and conditions for further information. Please note that we ask all passengers to remove their shoes once they board due to safety. Guests are required to follow ALL directions provided by our crew. As they are given to ensure your safety while onboard.
